After taking a long break to rest and think about their future in the sport, Marika & Federico are training together again... on rollers! Their current plan is to attend roller skating exhibitions: they showed their new exhibition program two days ago in Bologna and will skate again on Saturday 5th in Rovigo at the 9th Artistic Roller Skating Gala.

Marika e Federico have agreed to end their competitive career on the ice though they might attend figure skating exhibitions and shows next season. They want to thank all people and fans who supported them these past 3 years.

Today Federico turns 30... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Marika & Federico withdraw from the 2010 European Championships

The feared news came out eventually: Marika & Federico were forced to withdraw from the competition because of a bad flu with lung infection which hit Federico really bad. Till the very end the pair had hoped to be able to compete but even the team doctors couldn't do the miracle. Such a pity because Marika & Federico had trained really hard these past months and were in very good shape entering these championships. In this difficult time all our support and affection goes to them.

24.12.2009

The 2010 Italian National Championships took place in Brescia last weekend. In the pairs competition, the most exciting and unpredictable event, Marika and Federico skated very well in both the short (54.58) and the long program (97.78), improving their personal best by several points. Despite getting the first technical score in the long program, they had to settle for the 3rd place overall. Nonetheless audience and judges could appreciate the quality and difficulty of their pair elements, expecially their lifts, death spiral and triple lutz twist (the only pair to perform this element in competition). It will be up to the Technical Committee to decide which pairs will compete in the upcoming international events (Europeans, Olympics and Worlds).

Marika, Federico & Webmaster wish all of you

The long program is scheduled on sunday 20th starting at 2.45 pm (pairs more likely will compete after 5 pm).

FORZA CAMPIONI!!! :)

28.11.2009

Marika & Federico have no rest these days split between training in Ferrara and Torino and their own jobs in Bologna and Rovigo. Their focus now is on the 2010 Italian National Championships which will take place in Brescia next month, an important stage to make the Olympic dream come true. We wish Marika & Federico all the best, hoping the hard work will eventually pay off!

FORZA CAMPIONI!!! :)

Marika & Federico qualify Italy for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver!!!

Marika & Federico achieved their goal yesterday in Oberstdorf: they granted Italy a spot in the pairs competition at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games! In the short program they skated very well earning a new personal best of 46.46 and a 3rd place in the standing of the pairs trying to qualify for the Olympics (10th in the overall standings). In the long program (74.00 points) they had a few mistakes most likely because of the pressure and responsability they had on their shoulders yet they managed to end the competition in 4th place (11th in the overall standings) and therefore qualified Italy for Vancouver. Their goal now is to confirm themselves as first pair at Nationals and European Championships, then their lifelong dream to compete in the Olympic Games will come true.
